Bring your class out to the corn maze for a history lesson about Indiana! As we all know, children learn by doing. They remember what they have personally experienced. What better way to introduce students to Indiana history than for them to experience it for themselves.
The corn maze has twenty different learning stations. Questions at each station relate to a historical event or person from the particular area of Indiana. Students will be standing in the area on the map where the event took place or where that influential person was from. Each of the questions comes from the Indiana State Standards for 3rd-5th grade.
The learning stations are located at or near an Indiana college or university and has a fun fact for students to learn.
Of course there is always the agricultural aspect to the maze that many students can explore. By incorporating basic agricultural principals in your classroom, such as where our food comes from, students begin to understand how vital agriculture is to our community, our country and our world. To culminate or kick-off your classroom lessons, bring your students to the corn maze and let them see for themselves.
